rainbow - ROYGBV

If I made a blog about every day it rained in Bristol.. well then this would be for one, updated everyday, and two, an extremely boring blog. However today was an exception. Today I was walking up the steepest hill in Bristol on my way home in the pouring rain and thinking how sick I was of this terrible weather.

But then I got up to the top of the hill, turned the corner and saw the most vibrant rainbow.

While I was on my way home, Pete was also taking pictures from our flat of the rainbow.

Beautiful :)

a day trip to bath

Last Saturday Pete and I went on a drive to Salisbury via Bath to pick up our TV from a friends house. We have put off doing this drive for weeks now, but as the rugby finals were approaching Pete suddenly found the motivation for the trip.  We took the scenic route rather than taking the motorway (aka highway) and stopped in Bath to walk by the canal and around some parks.

Pete has a thing about jumping in pictures..

A view of Bath from the canal.

The canals were built all over England as a form of transporting goods between the cities. After a while the railways became the new source of transportation. Now the canals are used by people on holiday. Pete has a cousin that lives on a canal boat, which is more common than you would think.

I love walking along the canal and seeing the homes they have made for themselves on these boats.

After walking by the canal we went into Bath and had some Thai food by the river and then continued on to get our TV.

I don't know what's with Bristol and hot air balloons, but they are always there and have become a symbol of Bristol.. You can see four of them in this picture.
To end the day trip we had a great view of the sunset for the drive home.
A perfect Saturday.

Pete said I should write more... but I don't feel like it.
Have a good weekend!

Top Flat is NOT so Happening

While Pete studies....

I paint my nails.

But its not just any ordinary nail polish.. Oh no.. Its magnetized!?
This is the new thing here.. or so I am telling myself.  You paint the nail polish on, which comes out a grey/silver color, then hover a magnet over top and the silver bits move together, leaving behind the base color.

I am not lying.

Perhaps more of a painting achievment: The abandoned book shelf is finished!

Thats all the 'happenings' for now

Wedding Photos... no, not THE wedding photos..

Yay! I got a few photos off of Rachel.

Pete and his sisters all looking sooo beautiful!

Just enjoying the view.

Oh did I mention the wedding had a cat theme... .. .. ..
Pete's Aunt Jane made this cake along with all the edible cats placed on the cake... even had a mouse and hole in the back.

Inside the reception hall

English wedding's only have the father of the bride and the best man speeches... Pete's Uncle Chris, who has a dry English sense of humor, gave a very funny speech. It ended with Chris telling the groom to take care  of Kate (Bride) like he would his porshe.. "with a weekly wash and wax......(laughter) and of course regular service".

And then we danced!
*the end*

An English Wedding- Pembroke Lodge

Saturday morning Pete and I went to London for his cousins wedding. I was excited to take pictures and have something to blog about, since I have found it hard to find anything this past week. Unfortunately... I didn't remember to put the camera card into the camera.

So instead you get to look at pictures off the Internet and maybe in a week I'll have some that Pete's mom took.

The wedding was in Richmond Park at Pembroke Lodge.

Insert Wikipedia search to explain what the importance of this place is:

During King Edward's (1272–1307) reign the area was known as the Manor of Sheen. The name was changed to Richmond during Henry VII's reign. In 1625 Charles I brought his court to Richmond Palace to escape the plague in London and turned it into a park for red and fallow deer. His decision, in 1637, to enclose the land was not popular with the local residents, but he did allow pedestrians the right of way. To this day the walls remain, although they have been partially rebuilt and reinforced.
In 1847 Pembroke Lodge became the home of the then Prime Minister, Lord John Russell and was later the childhood home of his grandson, Bertrand Russell. It is now a popular restaurant with glorious views across the Thames Valley.

This is the "Lodge".

This over looks London and the Thames River and is where we had drinks before and after the ceremony.

This is somewhat the decor and the area of the reception

The park  still has deer roaming around.

The wedding was a lot of fun, and I was able to spend time with Pete's cousins who I have never really hung out with. The night was almost as good as the food, which means alot coming from me.

The next day we went to his Aunts house and spent more time with family and then headed back to Bristol with stinky cheese (Camembert) and sausage in the car.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!
